Slovakia’s most successful alpine skier Veronika Zuzulová summarized her successful season at a press conference in hotel Balnea Esplanade Palace on Friday, March 28. In the beginning of the conference she accepted a present of a weekend voucher for a stay of two people from the general manager of Health Spa Piešťany Klaus Pilz. A rest in the thermal waters of Piešťany will help her gather her strength for the upcoming summer preparations.
Veronika reached her best results so far in the past season of the World Cup – topping her list by placing second twice in slalom and the overall third place in the “small globe” competition in the slalom competition. After the positive summary of the 2007 / 2008 season the journalists present inquired about Veronika’s future. The most discussed topic was the change of ski brand – after testing new skis Veronika Zuzulova’s team decided to change brands and use Salomon skis for the following season. The Zuzula team also presented their plans of preparations for the following season which had already been designed. Veronika already has an idea about her future ski suit for the 2008 / 2009 season, but she did not want to share specific details, we will have to wait and see.
And what are Veronika’s ambitions for the upcoming season? “I am sure it will be difficult for me to reach such good results again. But I cannot set a lower goal for myself, I want to improve steadily. Only two competitors had better results than me, so my expectations are of the highest kind. We will see how well the preparations go; everything will be based on that. Preparations are always the worst part – the hardest and the most painful part. Right now I am still considering a short rest, but the difficult period, the hard work will follow right thereafter.” We wish Veronika good luck, and hope her preparations work out well and the following season will be even better than the previous one. And, of course, we hope she finally reaches the desired top position in the World Cup races.
