
Klaus Pilz (42) was appointed General Manager of Slovak Health Spa Piešťany on 19 September 2005.
He was born in Vienna. In 1986 he graduated from the Institute of Tourism and Travel at the Economic University in Vienna. He supplemented his hotel management education by studying at Gustav Käser’s Management seminars.
He broadened his experience through a variety of management positions in the most famous hotel chains in the USA (Sheraton Centre and Towers, New York; PGA Sheraton Resort, Palm Beach), Austria (Salzburg Sheraton Hotel, Penta Hotel Vienna, Austria Hotels International, Vienna), and in the Czech Republic.
He previously worked as general manager and chairman of the Board of Directors of Austria Hotels International in the Czech Republic, in charge of such hotels as the Grand Hotel Bohemia, Crowne Plaza in Prague, and Grandhotel Brno. By changing the management organization and introducing new standards in hotels, he significantly improved the company’s profits. During the floods in August 2002, they were able to reopen the Grand Hotel Bohemia one week after the disaster. In 2002 he was appointed vice president of the National Hotels and Restaurants Federation in the Czech Republic. The Czech Hotel Federation awarded him with the title Hotelier of the Year 2004.
Apart from German, he is fluent in English, French, Czech and Italian. He has a 12-year old son and 10-year old daughter. In his leisure time, he enjoys golf, history, travelling and music.
