a) Paraffin therapy Paraffin wax has a
very high "heat capacity," meaning it is able to absorb and retain a
great amount of heat. Our staff make use of paraffin's
heat-retaining capacity in a simple process called "heat transfer."
Very simply, the heat that goes into melting the paraffin is released
when it solidifies into a custom-fitted, warm "glove," thus
transferring the heat deep into the affected joint or area. Each treatment delivers a warm, soothing layer of fast-acting heat therapy.
b) Piešťany Parafango The remineralization properties of the warm Parafango stimulates the lymphatic
flow in our body to draw out the toxins from around the fat cells while the
wrapping technique compresses the skin and compacts the soft fatty tissue making
it more firm and tight. Our guests are advised to speak with the doctor on duty about the length of this treatment. Guests will also be provided with a
blanket which may be used to prolong the heating benefits of the Parafango
c) Dry hot wraps (thermophor, lavatherm – hotpack) is the local application of dry heat through the application of a heat carrier. The old standard thermophor is filled with hot water, modern lavatherm or hotpack containing chemical substances which generate heat if and reache up to 54°C. This heat pack may be repeatedly used for the local application of cold, if precooled down to approximately 6°C. d) Priessnitz wraps are cold, sweat-generating wraps for local application, mainly for cases of joint problems combined with oedemas and pain (inflammatory or traumatic aetiology), subcutaneous hematoms, for the relaxation of skeletal muscles, but also for the chest during tonsilitis, pharyngitis, or irritating coughing. The wrap should be kept applied for approximately 1 hour, and may be applied repeatedly. e) Cryotherapy is a treatment form using the healing attributes of cold which is administered either as a total or (more often) as local application. The local application of cold will induce firstly vasoconstriction, leading to the inhibition of muscle spasms and muscle hypertone, mitigation of pain, improved mobility, and at the same time to slower progression of nerve impulses, mitigation of inflammation and stimulation of immune response with an anti-inflammatory effect. It is very important that after each cryotherapy administration there is an active motorics-oriented therapy (active exercise). |
